Officejet Pro 8500A All In One
macOS 10.14 Mojave

I upgraded to Mojave yesterday.  Needed to scan docs today and couldn't. Removed printer/scan/fax from system prefs printers/faxes, and added back on. When I open the scanner, the look is completely different, it IMMEDIATELY starts scanning whether or not there is a document to scan;  it won't allow me to save the document, will only save as a "scan" to desktop and in some circumstances, it wouldn't even show up on the desktop.  I was able to get some scans done, but only after multiple attempts and a lot of frustration.  I felt like I was having to learn an entirely new program. There doesn't seem to be any updated drivers (this machine is eight years old) I scan frequently so this new issue is not helpful.  I spent two + hours trying to scan 10 docs, which should have taken about 15 minutes!  Anyone having this issue?

Hi,
From your Applications folder or its HP sub-folder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan application, delete it by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Next, install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

Shlomi

Thanks for the information.  It sort of works, but it's still not the same as before, which is frustrating. I scan a lot of documents and with this new app/download there are multiple steps that need to be taken that weren't required before, and obviously this takes more time to complete the task.   I'm sure it will just take some getting used to.
