It is April 1st, 2018 (this is not a joke). I was having this exact same problem, and this forum thread solved it. Wanted to say thank you. I signed up and made an HP account just to comment on this as I hope this helps others as well.
For reference, I have an HP Pavilion M4C30UA 15-AB023CL and an HP ENVY 7645 printer that I've been trying to connect to. Just as belllarry said, I just went to Settings > Printers & Scanners > Clicked on my printer name > Manage > Printer Properties > Ports > Add Port > Standard TCP/IP Port > New Port > Next > type in the IPv4 IP Address that you can get by printing a system information page on the printer itself. After adding this, the printer starting printing things in my queue!
