HP Deskjet 3630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Unfortunately I haven't got a solutions to perform a factory reset on the HP deskjet 3630.

But maybe the below instruction sets can help you guys further.

I received help from four members of the american HP chat support. None could give me the right instructions to perform the reset.  I finaly called the Dutch HP support. He understood my problem immediately but could not offer a guaranteed solution. I received the following instruction, which unfortunately didn't reset my printer to its factory defaults:

- Unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Press and Hold "WIFI-Direct" and "Color Copy" buttons while plugging the power cord.

(it should power on automatically else press the buttons while powering on)
- Release both buttons after a few seconds.

Pressing the above button combination for a few seconds after the printer has started does trigger a special undocumented mode for configuration settings. Since HP doesn't deliver the documentation for this special mode I cant use this mode. I tried but all I accomplished was changing the language of the printer. The status rapport printed into another languages. 🙂 If only HP had sent me the right instructions.

I was thankful for the effort from the phone support unlike a few of the chat-support members, which were actually kind of rude. (Keep me waiting for many minutes without noting or excuses, and disruptively end the chat with a message to call phone support, no forwarding solution whatsoever.)

My solution (which the phone support slightly agreed on):

Take the printer back to the store and buy a new one from a brand which documents this process. I like to have fair control on my devices. Easily resetting it to its factory defaults is a must. Maybe I will choose HP again if they add this feature.

If someone knows the button combination to reset the deskjet 3630 to its factory default please share it here to help others with this problem. Thnx in advance. I don't have this printer anymore so I can't validate it for you unfortunately.

#5 RISKY use on your own risk (you may wreck you printer so be catious and ask HP to give instructions 😛 )

- Power on the printer
- When the printer is done starting go to the next step
- Press and Hold "WIFI-Direct" and "Color Copy" buttons till the display changes to the number 0

- You are now in a special configuration mode which can be risky to configure.

- With the "color copy" button you can select the menu number to enter.

- With the "black copy" button you can enter the chosen menu or option.

- Be careful and only use it if you like to experiment and dont have support left
- Use on your own risk.
