Problems with network Vista and Windows 7 (64) installation where the printer was recognised (C309a) but I couldn't start the Solution Centre.  Stated that installation not finished.  Hi, I solved this problem not for the first time by installing the printer locally to the PC (using the download from the HP web site with the updates). This allowed the installation to complete - the fax pages come up first. I then put the printer back on the network (home) and added it through the installation/Solution Centre as another device. Then removed the locally installed printer. This has worked for me a number of times.

The answer as to how to correctly load (install) the set of printer-driver files is described in the forum.
You will have to learn to navigate the forum (I don't know how to navigate this forum, myself!)

Solution Center is included in the Full Feature version of the software for your printer, if it is a model that includes Solution Center. Search for your printer using the link attached below, select your model, and then select "Software & Driver Downloads". After doing that, choose your operating system, and hit next. You will then see the option to select a download. Choose "Driver - Product Installation Software" and then choose the Full Feature software. After installing it, you should have solution center installed on your computer. Here is the link: http://goo.gl/pZz0J

What I have learned about this problem is that OFTEN the HP server crashes during the download process; resulting in a Partial Download.

If the user does not notice that this has occurred and tries to install the executable, that user will:

1) not be successful with the current installation; and,

2) not be able to subsequently install a fully downloaded executable because of files previously storered in folder %TEMP%.

Please refer to my earlier postings on how to remove the corrupted files from %TEMP%.

I believe this situation reflects a serious shortcoming on the part of HP.

It is a horror for the client to deal with, and HP Tech Support provides zero support for the victim of what is caused by an HP server malfunction!

Sorry for exposing you to the TRUTH, but your response as an HP employee is definitely naive!

Do you think that so many people simply do not KNOW how to download and install a driver file?

The problem is deeper than that!

Maybe someone at HP will actually address it, one of these days.

how to check ink levels on hp 1410

As posted earlier, HP Solution Center is part of a Driver Package that contains several programs.

I am just guessing, here, but you may not be able to get details on 'ink status' even when the driver package is fully and properly installed.

I can't get ink status, but HP Solution Center is now working quite well (if not FULLY working).

I suspect that my problem may be caused by using re-manufactured HP printer cartridges instead of new ones bought from HP; but, I have absolutely no proof of this.

You can navigate to the appropriate HP Driver Download by Googling "HP Printer Driver" and then navigating to your particular printer model.

If everything other that the "ink-level" function is already working well, I advise you to leave the existing drivers alone. The most "Up-To-Date" drivers may not fix the ink-level issue.

Thanks, Henry

I have successfully downloaded the driver, but HP Solution Centre does not come with it.  Everybody tells me to uninstall the driver, and reinstall it with all the updates , etc., and I have done this, but still cannot access ink levels, realign cartridges, or print a test page!

Thanks anyway!
