Setting up this printer with a mixture of 6 different laptops, can someone please confirm that I can use a combination of HP wifidirect and wifi router network connections, since I understand the max number of HPwifidirect connections is 5?

Presumeably there is an advantage to using HPwifidirect as it would not be hampered by other activity on the router network, or would it be ok to set them all up as router connections?

Hi,

HP Wireless Direct allow up to 5 devices indeed, however a router connection do not involve such a limit and 6 devices should run with no issues..

If you have a router I suggest installing the printer through the router, I cannot see any reason to use Wireless Direct which require you to switch networks from your router to the printer for printing and back to the router for internet access...

Wireless direct is intended for printing when you do not have a router access and a such do not offer internet access as provided by your home network...

ok thanks ShlomiL, printing now setup via router. Out of curiosity, If the printer is set to use Wireless Direct, how do you use it? Not sure whats meant by switching networks.
