Win2k Unable to find the HP8500 after un-install of HP7200

Hello all

I wonder if someone can help with a tricky installation

- HP 8500 Pro All in one with wireless

- Dell 650 Workstation on 2k SP4 with latest MS updates

- The printer cannot be found using a TCP/IP (wireless or wired) or USB connection by the install progam in step 3

- Using a browser on the same machine the internal web server of the printer can be viewed and checked!!

- Before the install of the HP 8500 I uninstalled the 7200 driver!

The printer CD installs fine on other win 2k and OSX machines

On the second win 2k machine I did NOT un-install the HP7200 print driver

So far I have spent 6 hours on this trying everything I can think of and reading all the help files and posts on this website and from a google search. Nothing seems to help ..

Is there an offical HP utility I can use to resolve this issue ??

Thank you

Miles

Win2k Unable to find the HP8500 after un-install of HP7200

Hello,

Not sure if this is applicable but you never know.

I had problems installing a HP8500A as wireless network printer on 2 of my PC's (XP and Vista). The printer could not be found with the HP setup tools. After some investigation this appeared a problem with the Comodo firewall. I found several topics on that on the net but no actual solution.

What worked for me was unchecking the 'Block Fragmented IP Datagrams'.

Comodo firewall 3.10
Firewall > Advanced > Attack Detection Settings >  Miscellaneous (Tab) > Uncheck 'Block Fragmented IP Datagrams'

Comodo firewall 4.0
Firewall > Advanced > Firewall Behavior Settings >  Advanced (Tab) > Uncheck 'Block Fragmented IP Datagrams'

hth,

- Charles

P.S.

There are some diagnostics tools on the 'Download drivers en software' section for the HP 8500A (A910).

Similar programs are available for the HP8500 (A909) in the appropriate download section.
