I had an older CPU and had a modified drive to cause the HP1000 function on the Windows 7.  It do not function when on the Windows alone. I would like to find the adjustments to the interface so that I can use this printer?

I do not know.  When I first started repower with the new Windows 7.   Further adjustments caused the printer to not function.  It reported that it was not able to function.

We've been using an HP Laserjet 1000 just fine with our Windows Vista Home Premium.  So I just assume it would work with WIndows 7.

So I was startled that the WIndows 7 Upgrade Advisor says the HP Laserjet 1000 isn't compatible with Windows 7.

Is that true?  Or is it, I hope, a false warning?

Sorry, I do not know.  Just that is the problem that I face.

hello! can you help me to find driver for my printer  HP Laserjet 1000 series 64 bit

Many of us have been asking the same question for some time. There are some horrible, truly horrible, work arounds involving virtual machines, but basically HP will not support the printer on a modern  OS.

I gather its a GDI printer, where the driver does the work of rendering the page, so the driver is more complex, and HP cant be bothered supporting customers who spent their money so long ago.

It looks like I'll need to replace mine.

Obviously I wont be replacing it with another HP.

Looking at the top of the page, there are at least another quarter million people who may feel the same way....HP are you listening?

I guess the problem is still there - to make the LJ1000 work on a 64 bit operating system in a simple straightforward way.

Our LaserJet 1000  continues to work OK, using the complicated procedure described in message number 70 in this thread.  It has been doing so for 2 years now.

I had to reinstall the printer in XP-Mode, today, because it lost its configuration and started printing everything at twice the size: length and width both doubled.  The printer test page printed perfectly, seems to have been the only one not affected by the problem.

Just followed the original reinstall procedure in the CD that came with it (disconnect power and then USB, install software, connect USB and then power), and noticed a couple of things that were not made obvious in the message mentioned above:

- After having the printer installed in XP-Mode, which installs both HP LaserJet 1000 and HP LaserJet 1000 DOS, you have to share both of them using the "Sharing" tab in their "Properties" pop-up window.  If this is not done, the printer will not work from W7-64.

- In the sharing tab, for each one of them, you have to give them a Name.  The name of the HP LaserJet 1000 DOS is the one you have to use for the virtual port: "\\VIRTUALXP-XXXXX\Name", that you create for the HP LaserJet 1100 (MS).  But this was mentioned clearly in the above message.

- And don`t forget to Attach the printer to XP-Mode, using the USB tab on the bar at the top of its window.

After I shared both the 1000 and the 1000 DOS, and attached the 1000, as indicated above, the reinstalled printer worked well, without doing anything to the W7-64 OS.  Of course, I had to delete the printer (in Printers and Faxes), and delete its software (Control Panel/Add Remove Programs), before doing reinstall.

What I believe happens here is that you link the HP LaserJet 1100 (MS) to the HP LaserJet 1000 DOS (the two that can talk to each other), by using the "\\VIRTUALXP-XXXXX\Name" port.  Then, within XP-Mode, the 1000 DOS receives print jobs from the 1100 (MS) and they then get printed on the 1000 (the physical printer), with which the 1000 DOS shares its port (in my case USB001, whichs is a VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT).

Good Luck

Sorry for the late reply,  but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at Printers - LaserJet.

I hope this helps.

5. Navigate to the extracted files, sort by type and for every .exe file you will need to right click and set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3

If I right click on the exe files, I don't get an option to change the compatibility mode.  I don't even see that on my right click menu.  Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks for any help.  I really like this HP LaserJet 1000.  I am running Windows 7 32 bit.
