Windows 7 will not save a scan to file with officejet 6310

I have Windows 7 64 bit. I have spent the better part of a week checking the treads for a solution to this problem.

When I scan a document, everything runs like it is suppose to. I click-on "finish" and the little transfer bar that says the image is going to the file comes up and then disappears. I figure that the image transferred. When I go to the targeted file, it is empty.

I checked cSmiley Tonguerogram file x86 hp digital imaging bin and hpqxmlul.dll is there.

I tried using hpiscnapp.exe but, like I said I have no problem scanning. The problem is transfering to a file.

When I click "scan document in HP Solution Center as default "document to tiff file" is selected. This will not work. I click-on "document to file" and it works.

Now, how do I change the default setting or can it be?
