adding second computer to scan menu 6500

HP Recommended

am having a different problem with my 6500 e709n.

have a brand new computer HP ENvy DV7, OS windows 8 64-bit

i can scan effectively with my old work computer (lenovo, windows vista).   i cannot figure out how to add this computer.  i can't find an optoin on the scan menu on the printer.

I downloaded the printer driver for windows from the hp website, but can't find a prompt through the set up file to add a second computer.

I would like to keep both computers on the printer.  any suggestions?

thanks!

Hey susanlisa,

To have multiple computers connected to the E709n the printer will need to be connected either by ethernet or wireless.

You can enable the scan to computer feature on the Win8 computer. To do this:
* Open the HP Solution Center software installed from the HP website or from the HP Printer Install Wizard.
Software and Drivers for E709n
HP Printer Install Wizard
* Select the Settings option at the bottom of the Solution Center page.
* Under the Scan to Front panel settings, make sure that all of the options are added from the left side of the screen to the right
* Select Update device and these functions will be added to the front panel of the E709n for this Win8 PC.

For more information, there is a document with step-wise instructions on how to scan in Windows 8. Click

jason h

thanks for responding promptly to my problem, but i am not finding a screen with settings.  when i went to the solutions center or printer install wizard, it asked if i want to install the driver. i did that (for the 3rd time)--i downloaded the additional software and driver video help).  it leads me to the install sequence.  i reinstalled the software before i posted my original reply.

please tell me what i am missing!

thanks very much

susanlisa

It sounds like the install of the printer has become corrupt. I would advise cleaning out the software using the built in scrubber.

Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.

From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. Run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://goo.gl/R1hy
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
http://goo.gl/dwZ8F
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. Run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://goo.gl/R1hy
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
http://goo.gl/dwZ8F
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
