Please help -

My HP8500 Officejet Pro A909n just started spitting out a blank page before each document prints.  It also spits out two blank pages after every one page that is copied.  I downloaded the lastest driver and it resolved the blank page upon printing issue, but did not resolve the two blank pages on copy issue.

My printer is probably considered old and outdated, but I love this all in one printer and don't really want to buy a new one just because it's old.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One Printer - A909n. I read that the printer spits out a blank page before printing a document and two blank pages after every copy it makes. After reinstalling the latest drivers, it fixed the blank page issue while printing but not during a copy. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

I did some research on this case and would like to inform you that a copy is an independent function performed by the printer. A Copy is not related to the computer. I suggest you to perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Try to make a copy and check the results. If the issue persists then please continue with the below steps:

  • If the printer is connected via USB then disconnect the USB cable from the printer.
  • If the printer is connected wirelessly then please turn off the wireless on the printer.
  • Try to make a copy and check for the results. If the printer continues to spit out blank pages then I recommend you to perform a reset on the printer. Please refer to my private message for the reset steps.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
