HP 8710
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

 

Just purchased and 8710 after checking with HP to confirm it will print legal size documents in duplex mode.  First try no success, error messag on printer was that the paper was too large.  Needless to say less than pleased.  Hopefully i set this up wrong.  The document in quesiton prints duplex mode on my envy 7640 on letter size paper without issues.  Switching to the 8710 and using the same print selections (2 sided on short edge) as above didn't work.

Hi,

The printer do not support auto duplexing with US Legal paper.

 

You may find its specifications below, see 'Paper-handling specifications > Supported paper sizes > HP OfficeJet 8702, OfficeJet Pro 8710, 8715, 8718, and 8719 printers' section, check the Duplexer column:
