@Sherrodwaterboy

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand copies come out blank from both laptop and manual copying,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you checked for related HP forum posts to help resolve your concern?

If you haven't, Here's a related HP Forums post that seems to have helped others: Click here for the steps.

If the issue persists or you need further assistance, here's a few more steps:

Solution one: Use genuine HP cartridges

HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to hp.com/go/anticounterfeit.

Solution two: Allow automatic servicing to complete after installing a new cartridge

Many print quality problems, such as poor black text or issues that occur with newly installed cartridges, clear up with the printer's automatic servicing routine. There is nothing you need to do. The print quality should start improving in a few hours.

Solution three: Check the paper

The quality and type of paper can affect the print job. Use the following guidelines to make sure that the paper is appropriate. If it is not, load an appropriate paper type.
