Laser jet Pro MFP M1127fw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi

I have a Laser jet Pro MFP M1127fw instaled in the office.

when i want to fax a document to somewhere that their fax has an extention (meaning I should wait for the automatic answering machine to pick up and then dial in the fax extention and then start the fax) my machin says "connecting" and after a little while there is an error: either "no fax detected" or "error sending fax", while there is a fax machine on the other sid of the line waiting for the document to be sent!

is there anything i'm doing wrong? please advise me on this matter.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Laser jet Pro MFP M1127fw printer. I understand that you are unable to send fax with an extension number and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Ask the other person to send a fax to your fax machine and check if you are able to receive fax.

To send fax to a fax number with the extension follow the below steps.

  •  If you know the extension# you need you can insert special characters in the dial settings to delay dialing the extension number.
  • put the normal number then a couple of delay markers (",") followed by the extension#.
  • Most automated exchanges will detect tone dialing even if a message is being played and respond to that so normally you only need to delay the dialing of the second part of the number (the extension#) for a few seconds after the exchange picks up.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
