how do i print the screen that is on my monitor

I have some information on my monitor and want to print a copy of it for my records.  But I have tried to do it through my printer but nothing comes up.  I tried the "Shift key and the PrtSc key, but nothing happens.  How do it do a "print screen"?

Hi,

When you press PrtSc, next, open an application such as WordPad ( Click Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories ), right click on WordPad and select paste - you should now be able to send this capture for printing from wordpads menu.
