I would think you can use the same driver as you did for windows 7. In other words try the xp driver.

The 64-bit drivers used to win 7 do not go well on win 8.1 64-bit  because damage to the installation of a problem "hash" and not install on , you can not even get drivers from third parties . If I can not set it up I'll be forced to buy a new printer and it will not be hp.

You are using a 15-18 year old printer and still expect the manufacturer to support it. I really do not think hp cares if you purchase a new plotter from someone else or not. For the driver issue I can only suggest trying the Vista 64 driver. If that does not work, then you may be out of luck since hp did not even support the 450C in windows 7. They only supported the 430 in windows 7.

For 64 bit systems you can download the XP x64 drivers from here, then unzip the files into a new folder.  Next go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, select the proper port, then select "Have a Disk" and point to the folder where you unzipped the files.  You will need to disable driver signing to install the driver.  I have used this driver sucessfully on Windows 8.1 with my 20+ year old Designjet 650c, the Designjet 450c is also supported by this driver.

I had my printer working fine with windows 8.1, but not with drivers at HP site. I use the same driver on my old pc with win7.

Could you tell me what driver you are using and where you got it from if it is not from the HP site?

Thank you

I sure did but the person that posted directly above me commented that he found a driver but not from the HP website so just wondered what the driver was and where it was from.

The driver I have on my Windows 7 computer is version 4.83 which appears to be newer than a recent one I downloaed from HP's website, so I'm not sure where the driver I now have, which works fine, came from. I need to install the driver on another Windows 7 computer over the weekend but don't know if there is a way to find out where it actually is on my conmputer so I can use it on the other computer.

I believe the one Bob posted is older than 4.83 but don't know for sure and again don't know how to find out without installing it which I don't want to do if I have a newer driver and one that is working great on my Windows 7 computer.

So if someone can confirm the one at the link Bob posted is for Windows 7-64 bit, or if version 4.83 which I know works on W7-64, then I can just download it and install it on the other computer.

I just unzipped it and it says it is for the 430 so assume it does not have anything related to the color capability of the 450C and is version 4.82 while the one I now have is 4.83.
