hp8610 printhead

HP Recommended
hp8610

my printer started printing poorly in black ink, got worse so I cleaned the printhead which didn't help, replaced the printhead, popped in with no trouble, didn't need set up cartridges or anything, worked great for several days and then started showing same issues again. I can print in black ink, 1 page every 45 minutes or so, first thing in the morning, 2 or 3 pages. It's like something isn't re-inking right away. I am fairly certain the new printhead is in good working order and have not attempted to clean the new one, is there some other piece of hardware that isn't working that could cause the printhead to clog? what else can I check besides the printhead. color ink all works great and the pages I am able to print in black ink, though few and far between, also look great. I am so invested in this problem, would like to understand what's broken, even if I can't fix it. would appreciate any insight.

Hello @clcm - Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to help 🙂

I would suggest 2 steps to try and fix this issue.

Step 1: Clean the printer contact manually. Take the print head out of the printer. Use a clean link free cloth and clean the printer contacts inside the printer. (Where the print head is seated)

Step 2: Update the printer firmware. Go to http://hp.care/2bAYynE and select firmware to download and install new printer firmware.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
