Hello, @neeka456 - Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are getting the “Ink Cartridge Door open” message on your printer. I will certainly try and help you fix this error 🙂 Try the steps below:

  • Remove the cartridges from the printer.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Now, open and then close the cartridge access door of your printer. Make sure the cartridge is closed tightly.
  • Repeat the exercise for your input tray and ADF door.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle and then insert the cartridges and check.

Also, check the steps mentioned here if the issue persists: http://hp.care/2dSUBf0

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

I tried this method 3 times and I'm still getting the same message. This did not work for me. As per the above link I'm going to have to service the printer. But I don't know where....

Hello, @neeka456

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer. You need to contact the HP phone support for further assistance or for printer service.

You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Cheers 🙂
