After installing a new black cartridge, the ink level shows very low.

   • Print quality after cleaning heads look good

   • Print Status Report does not acknowledge installation of ink days ago.  It shows last install as months ago.

Hi @nel7773,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer that is showing a very low ink level for the black cartridge you just replaced. I would like to help with that.

You mentioned that the print quality after the Printhead cleaning looks good which kind of makes it sound like the cartridge is printing but not communicating properly with the printer or vice versa.

Most support documents for this issue will simply suggest replacing the cartridge, but with a new cartridge there may be something that can be done to get it to read properly. Here is a document that says it is for an incompatible cartridge issue but it contains steps that may help - 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge' or 'Indicated Ink Cartridge Must Be Replaced'.

If you get down to the spot in the above document where it says to replace the cartridge, please remember that each cartridge carries its own warranty that covers troubleshooting with HP Tech Support phone agent. So even if your printer is out of warranty the cartridge may not be, especially if it is new.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
