Noisy Printer

If I turn on the printer without a cartridge it does not make a noise, just tells me to install a cartridge.  When I put in a cartridge and turn it on, it starts making a loud gear noise and stops before it can initialize and shows scanner error.

Tried different cartridges but did not make a difference.

Changed scanner assy but did not make a difference.

Did a cold reset but did not make a difference.

Keep in mind this unit has 2 different scanner units.  Does the message have any numbers like 40 or 50 something.  The scanner error could be from the laser/scanner which has a high speed motor which if not lubricated correclty can make a grinding, screeching or whinning noise when the printer initializes the printer's laser scanner.  Sometimes you can repair this motor by placing a very small drop of synthetic oil down the shaft.  Only use synthetic oil and only use a very tiny drop.
