Solved!

officejet 6700 wifi on despite control panel saying otherwise

Officejet 6700 Premium

My Officejet 6700 is set up to not use wifi, but to use a wired network. On the control panel of the printer, the wifi logo is off, and in the settings menu, it says that wifi is off.

Despite that, the printer does try to setup a wifi network. It broadcasts a network name. (I verified: the network name refers to the printer model, it disappears when i power off the printer, and it reappears when i turn the power back on.)

What do I have to do to turn wifi really off?

Solved!

officejet 6700 wifi on despite control panel saying otherwise

Hi @pieterl,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!

I see that your HP Officejet 6700 Premium Printer is broadcasting a wireless signal, but you wish to disable that feature. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

I understand that wireless is turned off, but the printer is still broadcasting a wireless signal. From what I gather you're seeing is HP Officejet 6700 Printer or HP Setup in the wireless menus on the computer or other wireless devices? This would indicate that Wireless Direct is enabled.

On the printer's front panel menu go to:

  • Setup Menu>Network>Wireless Direct> Turn Wireless Direct Off.

This should rectify the issue for you.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂
