Hello, I am upgrading to a new PC, Windows 7 to Windows 10. On my Windows 7 PC the HP Scan software was installed with the full software/driver package and I have been using this scanning software for a few years. When I downloaded the full driver/software package for Windows 10 the HP Scan software does not install. I tried a couple times thinking that I may have missed the option but no luck.
Is the HP Scan software still supported with this printer for Windows 10?
The printer is connected to my network via Ethernet. PC is Dell 7040, Windows 10 Pro 64b.
Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums. Yes, the printer is supported on Win 10. The link below will get you to the software download page.
Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5312602&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4192
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
I followed the steps outlined above and i am still having the same issue. I even compared the file details to the file I had originally downloaded and they are exactly the same. I am able to install the printer and print. I am unable to scan. I try and open the HP printer icon that the software installs but it just keeps asking to install a new printer and does not recognize the printer that was just installed. Reboot has no effect, nor does rebooting the printer. This printer works fine with Windows 7.
Thanks

HI,
Can you try this scan software:
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Let us know if that works.

Hello, Thank you for the reply. That did install the HP Scan software but unfortunately HP Scan is unable to see the printer. I tried installing the printer on another Windows 10 PC and the installation cannot find the printer. I am able to navigate to the printers web page via the IP and the Windows 7 Pc still works fine.
Is this printer supported with Windows 10?
Thanks

Hello,
I think i figured it out. HP scan does not work with this printer and Windows 10. It seems the driver package does not install a scanner driver so HP Scan, when run, generates an error message saying the device cannot be found.
I downloaded HP Scan and Capture from the Windows Store and that works fine. Its not as feature rich as HP Scan but it will have to do.
Thank you for all your help everyone.
