HP officejet 6500A plus

When doing the printhead alignment in the maintenance section, it always comes up alignment failed. What can I do next? The print quality and printheead functions seem to work, but not the alignment. I am unable to print except for the above two test that I mentioned.

Hi @Lmill,

Good Day! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! I read your post about an issue with the printer which gives an error “alignment unsuccessful” I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. We greatly appreciate you for doing business with HP.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Have you tried to make copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer?
  • Did you replace cartridges and check again?

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer.

Please perform all the steps from this link: http://support.hp.com/id-en/product/HP-Officejet-6500A-e-All-in-One-Printer-series---E7/4083974/mode...

Please perform all the prescribed steps from this document.

  • Solution one: Reset the printer
  • Solution two: Check the paper, and then try to align the printer again
  • Solution three: Check the cartridges
  • Solution four: Make sure that the cartridges are properly vented and correctly installed
  • Solution five: Clean the printhead
  • Solution six: Replace the printhead
  • Solution seven: Service the printer

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact Hp phone support to get the printer upgraded or replaced.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I had tried everything that you suggested and came to the same conclusion. I replaced munit with an HP 6978Office Jet Pro.
