Product: HP laserjet 1536dnf MFP
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

just moved and trying to hookup my printer to the computer and cannot figure out what cables are needed.  The only one I have figured out is the power cable.  What else do I need to plug into the printer to attach it to the computer

If directly to the printer you need a usb printer cable. See the link below:
