HP 4500 Inkjet Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

For about a week now, whenever switching on my HP 4500 Inkjet printer, a grinding orloud  "machine-gun" sound now emerges for a few seconds from the interior hardware of the unit. This loud "machine-gun" sound emerges again for a few seconds as the unit prepares to print a page whenever a print command is sent. For now, the page ends up printing normally, but something has suddenly gone wrong with hardware components to produce this annoying loud "machine-gun" like noise at startup and  whenever starting to print a document.

Hi! @numiscene,  Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you hear machine gun sound from your printer.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Have you tried replacing the ink cartridges with a different one?

Have you tried checking the printer without the ink cartridges do you hear the noise from your printer.

If you hear the sound from your printer without the ink cartridges, it is a hardware issue with your printer.

Please contact HP Support for service options.
