"cartridge error" on office jet 4315v all in one

"cartridge error" appeared after printing several pages using "presentation printing" mode.  I replaced the black cartridge with a new HP, but cannot get rid of the error message in order to do anything on the printer.  I was able to print a report of some sort using          "*#" together then 1,2,7, right arrow, ok, left arrow ,ok".  Also downloaded "fix" from HP,  but it didn't help.  Have to unplug printer to get the green "on" button to go off - there is a message "MFG R0614W message in the window.  I have also unplugged all the connections on the hprinter several times.  Pls help!  Thanks

Hi,

 

Try performing  a reset on the printer,

 

Steps to perform reset.

 

1. Unplug the power cord from the product, and wait 20 seconds.
2. Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the product.
3. Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be reset to factory defaults.

 

Note:  Few settings and info will be cleared after performing reset like country, language, user menu settings and  fax memory will be cleared.

Thanks for the suggestion, however, it did not fix the problem.

Try the above steps again replacing the (# and 3) with (# and 6).
