HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just finished setting up my brand new Envy 7640 all in one printer. Everything works well except the scan function. In trying to fix the problem I keep running up against the HP scan function vs the Windows 10 scan. The printer-computer link seems to want the HP scan function but I am unable to displace (or get rid of the Winows 10 scan fubction).

How can I get the scan function to work so that I can scan to PDF or JPEG, etc. files which I am unable to do now?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.  Try the HP AiO Remote Apps. It has the scan function.

HP AiO Remote apps

Follow these steps to get the apps (if it's not already installed) :

1. Go to Windows Store
2. Search for "HP AiO Remote" apps
3. Install the apps.
4. The apps should detect your wireless printer, under the apps, there is a "Scan" function.

This resource will show you how it's done:

Hope that helps.

Many thanks for your suggestion. Did what you suggested. I probably did something incorrectly because the scan function continues to allow only the windows function to control my 7640. As such I cannot get PDF images or JPEG images.

I still appreciate your help.
