I have tried it on my macbook pro previously but the scan to computer never works. Is it better to connect via wired network connection, or wireless, or usb?

Hi @MartyA1,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with scan to the network folder.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Create a folder and right click it (CTRL+ Left click) and select Get Info, check the box next to Share folder.
  2. Under the permissions, section ensure your user account have read and write permissions.
  3. From System Preferences, select Sharing, ensure that File sharing is enabled and click the Edit / Options button.
  4. Ensure the SMB option is checked and the user is listed and selected, add the user if required.
  5. Now try adding the printer into the EWS page of the printer (The printer homepage, can be accessed by typing the printer URL into Safari) and under Scan select Network folder and setup the folder using the user and password account.
  6. Set the path as the computer IP and then the shared folder name (e.g. \\192.0.0.0\scan).

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care!

Cheers!

I have gone through every step, and cannot get it to work.  It used to work before yesterday.  The network folder test fails every time.  I've tried using my network path to folder, and IP address\folder.  Each fails.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled software.
