Hi John,  I ran Revo Uninstaller and found an unbelievable number of entries left over in the Registry after Uninstall_L3 was run.

I deleted those  ( It took a while ), downloaded the  "latest" software from HP, and Voila!

A completely successful installation, including Solution Center.

By the way, I was under the impression that I couldn't use L4 because it might interfere with HP registry references to my HP Pavillion.

Thanks for your assistance, and counsel.

Hello JohnB,

thanks for your Reply.

I have followed of all of the steps for Windows XP ( in sequence ) as detailed in the link you offered, with the following results:-

Windows Add/Remove programs  - Removed

Install - Consistently stops at 96%....  ( left it at that point for 10 minutes, without any activity )

Then did the level 3 uninstall,  then reinstall ( with all startups suspended using msconfig ))

Then this happened............

rjjj,

You can undo the changes you made in msconfig and such. Since the level 3 did not work out lets try this(level 4):

From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. Run the L4uninstall.bat
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://goo.gl/vf4Z
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
http://goo.gl/THNsg
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. Run the L4uninstall.bat
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://goo.gl/vf4Z
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
http://goo.gl/THNsg
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

I have seen circumstances that have seen this not work the first time. To be absolutely certain try running the L4 after restart (steps1-7) a couple of times. Like this: steps 1-8, restart, then steps 1-7, restart, then steps 1-10. I will cross my fingers for you on this end.

Best of Luck!

Rjjj,

I am glad to hear you are back up and running. Let us know if you have any other issues ;). That is partly why I did not suggest L4 sooner there can be some bleed over and why risk it when it may not be necessary.

Best of Luck!
