what does passphrase mean?

I got a new wireless printer and when I try to get it to print it says security failed,wireless router requires a WPA security passphrase,  run the wireless network setup to re enter your wireless network WPA security passphrase. i dont know how to do that.

Passphrase means the password to logon to router. Other wireless devices such as laptops use the same password to logon /connect to the router.

I am trying to hook up our photosmart wireles hp printer to our elevate-848C and it keeps asking for the wpa passphrase. What is that?

If you don't remember the password, try running the HP Tool to see if it can retrieve it:
