My printer will only print in color even when it and my computer setting are both for black and white (or grayscale).

Yes, I have turned them both off and on to re boot.  And yes, the ink levels are ok (Magenta's a bit low but not that close to being out.

@linda1962

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer and it prints in color even after selecting it to print in black and white on the printer and on the computer. I'll do my best to help you.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What operating system are you using? If it is Windows that what version of Windows and if it is Mac then what version of Mac?
  • Have you checked for the ink levels?

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please make a copy in black color only and check how is the output.
  • If the printer copies fine in black then please continue with the next steps.

If the ink levels are fine and the printer copies fine in black then I suggest you to reinstall the printer drivers and then try to print in black only.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply. Cheers! 🙂
