- HP Printer purchased in a different country? new ink cartrid...
If you have run out of ink, you have probably discovered that your printer will not accept the brand new print cartridges you purchased in the new country. You are not alone in experiencing this. There are 1000+ threads about this issue!
There is only one way to resolve this issue.
Contact HP Support and ask for help in resetting the regionalization of your printer.
Authoring a thread about the issue will result in one of us assisting you to get in contact with an HP Support team member who can help.
There have been literally thousands of posts threads and posts from HP Printer owners who have run into this issue. It is truly frustrating if it happens at a time when you really need your printer for an important document.
If you have managed to find the special keystrokes online which are meant to enter a menu which allows input of a regionalization reset code...Don't make any entries in the regionalization reset menu without an HP Support agent on the phone with you!
If you input three wrong entries with out a code specifically supplied by an HP Support team member, your printer may never print again. The codes also cannot be reused!

HP Facebook Team really responded fast but I still have no regionalization reset because they don't have an option to perform the reset form my printer model and asked me to look for a HP phone support for futher assistance near my location.
I tried to locate even in 5000 km radius but the search ends with the following message:
"Your search returned no results for the selected country. Verify your information, or try broadning your search."
=======================
4 MONTHS and NO SOLUTION!!!

thanks Erico! I couldn't call hp the first time I followed the instructions available on hp site because I did not find a number for my country and neither had a warranty any more. The very useful clue in your answer was to contact them by DM in facebook. I just got the codes and could print with the new local cardriges!!! I had been struggling with this issue for months and I refused to buy a new printer!! I think hp could clear this thing in their instructions regarding this issue.

To Remede: Had this issue on an 8600. Based on my research, there is no generic instruction. The "codes" to provide a regionalization reset can only be provided by a live HP Support rep. They are currently impossible to reach by any means I've tried. Caution: DO NOT TRY CODES OBTAINED OFF THE INTERNET. Correct codes are unique to a serial number, and I'm told after 3 incorrect attempts, your printer is put in a vegetative state forever, i.e., landfill. Since my wife needs to operate her business, I threw in the towel on HP and ordered an Epson WP-4730 from Staples. Very happy with it so far. Good luck.

@CTPhil, Welcome to HP Support Community!
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

So the printer was purchased and is being used in Angola.
Regional reset or rationalization is performed when a printer is purchased in one country and taken to another country, where the cartridge number or the compatible is different.

Dear Jay_G24,
It's easer for me to get the cartridges in Europe. Please I need to change the region because there is not the 178 cartrides in Angola and I already bought 2 sets of 364 plus photo cartridges.

Thought I'd update the status of my regionalization issue for the folks on this string. Here's a message I sent today to HP Support. By the way, the EPSON printer I bought at Staples for $109, hell below the cost of a set of z10 (US) replacement cartridges for the HP printers:
Thanks for your belated interest. I needed to go in a different direction to keep my wife's business going. I bought and installed an Epson printer. I'll continue to operate our other HP8600 as a B&W printer until I run out of two large z20 black ink cartridges. Then, I'll probably buy and install another Epson printer.

terima kasih Erico!

To do a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region to which you want to reset it to.
Please confirm these.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Thanks!
Have a great day!

Thanks @erico for replying, i was researching it and found that as you said the only solution was to get in contact with HP.
I wasn't finding any way how to get in contact with HP and i have seen they replied to people that posted here, so i thought that night help me.
As for your suggestion, i don't have facebook, any solution on how to get in touch with HP so they can assist me?

The reason I asked the question (for the millionth time on this forum) is because, counter to what you say, many other users reported they had received help from support staff messaging them directly with instructions. This seemed a better bet than the phone helpline. I will try the FB option.

@Jay_G24,
Can you also help? having the same issue, I bought mine in Singapore and I'm using them now here in Germany, so I can't find any 564 here in Europe so I bought the compatible one which is 364 XL, however, I have now had this error of incompatible cartridge.

My problem was finally solved by phone contact with an HP technical support person. I was somehow able to get a case#. The support person took control of my pc and made the necessary changes to set my printer for the US region. Then I could use the US cartridges I had already purchased. The service was provided at no charge so I was very lucky. Good luck to you.

Crazy, I am encountering the same issue. I contacted HP and we tried to reset the region remotely. It didn't work and HP advised me to purchase a new printer. Why are we advised to throw away devices that are still functioning. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN HP PRINTER ANYMORE!!!! Well done HP, great work!

NIKLA1357,
This is actually CTPhil. See my May 2020 posts.
I switched my printers to EPSON starting in May 2020. Very happy with them. Surprisingly, the aftermarket ink cartridges work great. Extremely cost effective. Think HP is being "penny-wise, pound foolish". Their arrogance really turned me off.

I purchased a printer in Abu Dhabi and I live now in Germany. Now I ran out of cartridges and the once from Germany don’t work.
it’s a Deskjet 2620. If I try to get a contact info from the HP homepage they ask me to fill in the printer serial number which I do (it’s also the correct nr) but it’s not accepting the CN … number (it’s the only serial number listed) so I can’t even ask for help. As there are no further options. This is absolutely ridiculous and really such a horror. How can a company like HP have no support available for such situations.

Hello,
I have the same problem (moved from EUR to US), and am desperately looking for a solution. Can't reach a HP representative over 800 number, as my serial number is unrecognized (product ID is - but only online) and 800 support call just drops. Please let me know how I can proceed.

I managed to solve this by contacting HP through facebook. You have to have and old and a new cardrige and the printer connected to internet. I don't remember where did I find the equivalent cardrige number for the new country, but they can surely tell you. If you manage to get in contact with Hp the rest is easy, they'll tell you what to do.
Good luck.

Managed to contact HP support to reset my printer from the UK to Australia. Australian HP cartridges were not compatible.HP agent told me the printer's settings could be done over the phone but also wanted a remote control on my PC. I was not prepared to allow the remote control and asked for the reset instructions to be emailed to me. I was told this was not possible and if I did not allow some form of remote control I would have to buy a new printer
