A warm welcome to HP Support Community!
In order to print from multiple devices, we have to connect the printer to your home WiFi or use Wi-Fi direct printing. Once the printer is connected is connected using Wi-Fi direct or to your home WiFi, then you can use HP Smart App to print from your phone and computer. You may use the steps available here to connect the printer to your home WiFi.
Instructions on how to connect the printer using WiFi direct can be found on page 32 of this document.
Let me know how it goes!
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Have a great day!

Similer to JConner31. I've uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart 3 times now for HP Envy Photo series 7800. Still every time I go to open the application, it is very slow loading. It doesn't show Supply Status. It says "Reports are not available for this printer"

Hi everyone - I have the officejet pro 8710. One of my favorite features was the HP Smart app, which scanned multiple pages through the printer and was then able to share/save/send as ONE single document. For reasons I can't understand, it will now only save/share each single page as a different file every time. Has anyone else experienced this? Any way I can get it back to the way it used to be?
Thanks!

Is there a known issue with Smart Tasks not syncing between the Mac application and the "others"?
My iPhone / Android and PC all show the same (synced) Smart Tasks, my Mac shows a completely different list.

@MattPackwood, Welcome to HP Support Community!
This could be an issue with the HP Smart App. Let us try to isolate and resolve the issue.
Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
Restart the devices and check if that helps.
If the issue persists, uninstall the app. Click on the Finder then from the toolbar select Go then Applications. Locate HP Smart in Applications then drag HP Smart icon into the Trash.
Download and install the HP Smart application from the App store.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I uninstalled, reinstalled, redetected the printer..
Clicked on Smart Tasks, get a message none are set up but I can log in if I already have them set-up.
I log in, the "incorrect" ones I set up previously on this Mac show up, not the ones the other devices show.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, yet the application will not work on a Macbook Air. So basically, I cannot ever print using my work computer as the app is completely useless.

Hi everyone,
I have a frustration with the HP Smart app on MacOS. I use my 8710 to scan and save documents.
When I have finished scanning each document and then saved it I have to go back to the main menu and back into the scan section before starting a new document. It feels to me that there should be a new scan button/option on the screen once I have saved a document so that I don't have to go back and forward. Am I missing something?!
Thanks in advance,
Alan

In my experience, the support from HP for Apple products is waning rapidly. The solution for everything is to uninstall the HP Smart driver, yet that solves few of the problems. In my case:
1. The erroneous malware warnings continue to persist, even after the "solution" of uninstalling the HP software and reinstalling it.
2. I buy HP computers for my business (12 units on order as I type), and yet, I am unable to get HP support on the phone today. Three calls to three people whose first language is clearly not English, and three transfers to a number that is not open on weekends. But if I call about my open HP computer orders, I get through instantly. See?
3. HP Smart on the Mac continues to have errors communicating with my printers. And yes, they are supported printers, and yes, I have done the old re-install script that everyone keeps reading to me. My printers have no status or HP Smart just gives me a spinning wheel and locks up.
4. If I spend $30,000 with HP over the past four months, including support contracts, should I expect to be able to speak with a support tech? I think that my expectations are reasonable.
For those Mac users, has anyone used Canon or Brother? I have no experience with those brands, but my frustration at this point is beyond control.

i share your frustration. I have the 9120 and 9110 both on my wireless network. I’m running macOS Catalina. My biggest issue is that when I go to print something, I get the msg that printer can’t be found but if I restart the printer, it’s found (definitely not acceptable). However, I have stumbled across a solution: if the HP Smart app is running, the when I print something, (not using HP Smart but it’s running in the background) the printer is miraculously found.

I have downloaded/redownloaded the HP Smart app- (by which the help & support info is not very helpful what so ever) and I still can't get my printer to install. Every time I try it just freezes the app, and when I try to go onto your website to see if there is a way I can manually download it, I get sent to the same frigin link that wants me to open the HP Smart app which again still keeps stalling on downloading. It's a brand new printer Deskjet 2700 all in one printer/scanner

JarheadPete,
Make sure your setting is set to "document" and not "photo"...if set to "photo" it will scan each page to a separate jpg image. If set to "document" it scan all of the pages in the feeder to a single PDF document.

For some reason my printer isn't fully working? Whenever I turn it on, it automatically starts printing something I had printed a while ago (being about a month ago). I went to the printer queue and it was also empty. I've been trying to print for about 20 minutes now and it just keeps printing multiple pages of the same doc I had printed a while ago, its literally wasting my ink. I don't know whats happening but i cant print anything else but this continuous doc. Help.

same thing here.
just bought HP Ink Tank 319 for my dad, connect it with old macbook air mid-2011, running latest MacOS 10.13.6.
The HP Easy Start works fine, and redirect to download the HP Smart, which is not smart at all....
This HP Smart app cannot detect the printer connected thru USB! both auto detection or manually.
So the hack is -- for now -- just install the latest Apple HP Printer Driver 5.1 (end of 2020) and try to find the nearest compatible driver in the list.
For HP Ink Tank 310 Series, at least I managed to use HP DeskJet 5700 Series worked for printing.
Haven't checked it with Scanning functionality, though. (don't expect that much...)
Hope it helps others with the same problem.

Papazaks, thanks for sharing those drivers. I think that problem is all about poor functions' sync between Mac and HP Smart, on the side of HP software. If someone of you will face technical issues with software, that is built in your Mac, I can give you a recommendation about visiting this helpful ( link: https://setapp.com/how-to/speed-up-slow-internet-downloads-on-mac ) resource Setapp, where I always get the latest and most relevant information about MacOS and different tips about adjustments. It helped me in speeding up my internet connection.

HP Smart has been a huge step backwards. I am no longer able to scan with my CM1415fnw. Clicking on the scan button goes to a screen that says "scanner not found" whereas the mfd is reporting "Scanning to PC". Uninstalling and reinstalling has had no effect. Image capture launches a dialog box that claims the software will harm my computer and then does not launch. Also half the time, even though the laptop and mfd are on the same network, HP "Smart" reports the mfd to be offline. Very frustrated.

I just bought an Envy 6000 Series and the App keep on crashing. I have deleted and re-installed twice, no joy.
When I managed to scan a doc, and then print it the App says that the printer is busy! I mean your SW doesn't recognised that it just finished scanning and now needs to let go of the printer for printing.
The overall quality of the App and the printer is shocking!
I'll send it back to Amazon today! Bye!

Hoping this forum is still active.
I've tried to "upgrade" to HP Smart from the prior HP software. Now we can no longer scan from the HP Smart software. Printing is fine. Scanning from the Image Capture app works but not as convenient. Hitting the "Scan" button from the HP Smart button causes the document to feed appropriately and apparently scan, but no document shows up anywhere. This happens on all Mac in our house. MacBook Air 2011 running OS 10.13.6, iMac running 10.15.17. I've uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart on all, no go. Scanning to email can work, so it's not a total loss, but it's less convenient.
Hope someone has a solution or idea.
