- Scan to Network Folder Setup for Officejet Pro 90xx
Hello,
I've attached a document showing how to setup scan to network folder for Officejet Pro 90xx printers.
Make sure to check the section "Verify that the Current Printer Time is set to the GMT equivalent of the current time on the macOS client."
These steps are important to follow or it will not work properly.
We would like to encourage you to post a new topic in the community so our members will be able to help you as well, here is the link to post.

I originally wrote this document. But it turns out that the 80xx devices may not support Scan to Network Folder.

I borrowed it from one of your postings.
I thought it was good information.

Indeed, 80xx model does not support this feature, therefore removed it from the post listing 🙂
By the way, great and very helpful information is provided in the document, thanks for sharing @IronBadger and @StretchMusic!

I'm running Windows, but thought your doc might help, so I modified the printer time to be GMT. It still doesn't work.
The network folder is on a NAS connected by ethernet to my router on a private network. It is of the form \\companynas\Scans. The OfficeJet 9015 is connected to the same router via ethernet, as well. When I hit Test from within the EWS interface, it fails every time. Any ideas?

I do have the same problem as NightStalkerTX discribed. Pretty not sure why. Any other Computer in the network does find and have access to the folder. The OfficeJet 9020 not...

with my device officejet pro 9020 it is the same - network connection error, when i try to scan to a network folder on a NAS. Every other computer or the older officejet pro 8720/8730 printers have no problems. Unfortunately i missed the return time-window on online-store with 4 days. It seems to be a network-protocol issue on the 90xx series - it is build much cheaper in every way to the predecessors (87xx-series) - i´ll try some other configurations, alternative to return the printer for fixing is very expensive... I ´ll send some solutions, if some works...

I tried this way to get the scanning to work and got stuck at the test at the end. It never seems to get past that point. I see the folder listed on the printer screen but an error comes up. Thoughts?

It was a long journey - define pc and printer in your router with static IP-addresses and then use this IP-address as the first part of Your path - that works in my case

What HP doesn't mention is making sure the time zones are set the same on the computer as well as the printer. For some reason on the printer the time zone was off a zone. I don't remember even having to set this in the setup process. This would have saved me lots of time if this simple step was in the directions for setting up scanning to a network folder... you hear this HP.

I am trying to setup Scan to Network Folder from my HP Laserjet MFP M277dw to MacOS Catalina. I already have Scan to Network Folder working to my Windows 10 system. Even though I have a different printer I have tried the solutions already in this topic to try and get it working working. But have been unsuccessful.
I have done the following:
1. Setup the shared folder on the MacOS. Checked the permissions and I have verified that I can access the shared folder from my Windows 10 system with the desired credentials.
2. Used the printer Web interface from the MacOS to setup the Network Folder Setup. The Display name is: Catalina Scans. I am using the network path as \\192.168.1.xxx\MyScans When I save and test I get the message: The test has completed successfully.
When I try to scan I get the following messages:
1. First message on printer: Scanning to Catalina Scans.
2. Second Msg: Cannot write to \\192.168.1.xx\MyScans. Destination folder is read-only, Has the wrong Permissions, or is no longer available.
I have checked all the permissions I know about. What else can I try? Is there another test that could help me determine the reason this isn't working?
Thanks for your help,
Doc Brown

Whoever figured this out about GMT deserves a gold medal, a high-paying job with HP for life, and a new car.
Seriously, I just tried chat support and the lady told me: Contact Apple to get the correct username and password for your Mac.
Are you kidding me!? Is this the kind of support they offer?? When the solution is so simple and yet impossible for any normal individual to figure out!?

I can't believe how many hours I spent banging my head against the wall trying to get the network folder to authenticate properly. From what I read by many other posters, Yosemite just wouldn't cooperate. But your solution, changing the printer's time to GMT, was so out of the blue and seemingly random, and yet it was what made it all work. THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!

Hi,
I want a Laser Printer That Captures a scanned page like a camera shot in just one second.
Just like a camera flash occurs. Is it possible with a laser printer? I Purchased a laser Printer MFP 135a but this feature is not available. This is my idea.
Thank you for your time and effort.

I'm trying to set up scanning from my HP9013 to a network folder residing on my Catalina Mac.
I followed all the instructions on HP official manual for this set up, which are quite identical to the doc provided here: GMT, sharing, user credentials, everything.
Still no success. I get the following error msg: "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again"
HP support made an honest attempt to help, but finally raised their hands, and did the only remaining thing - accuse my Mac 😞
Any new ideas/experiences that might help me as well?
UPDATE: I tried the procedure on another Mac - worked like a breeze.
On my 'problematic' Mac, I tried setting a shared folder in the user's root instead of under desktop (i.e. user\Scanned) and it works. No idea why.
If you have a guess, please share 🙂

I see that you got it working. As far as why it worked I can only guess that it has to do with access permissions in the various folders. For Scan to Network Folder to work, usually in the printer's configuration somewhere you should be asked to enter logon credentials to the Mac. The Printer has to have permission to access the particular folder. Check the file sharing permissions for the folder in question.
As you see above, I struggled with this also. I tried all the suggestions, but I was not successful with HP MFP M277dw. First, I made sure the time was set correctly in the Fax setup menu on the printer. What worked for me was to reset the printing system on the Mac. This is done by:
1. Open System Preferences, Click Printers & Scanners.
2. Right click in the left pane and select: Reset Printing system.
This will remove all printers and scanners from the system. Go though the full process to re-install your printers and drivers. First check that you can scan by initiating the scan from the Mac. As I'm sure you know, initiate the scan from the Printers & Scanners item in System Preferences. When in Printers & Scanners, in the left pane, select your printer and select the Scan tab. Make sure that works.
I hope this help you further. I'm also posting this for the benefit of other users.

I've just bought a 9010 and am trying to set up Scanning to Network Folder on my iMac (Mojave). I have followed the instructions in the PDF to the letter but, like many people, can't get my username and password accepted at the end. I've checked the time/GMT settings and the printer is showing the correct time. I've moved my Scans Folder to the route of my User Account but nothing seems to work. I had a long (very long) WhatsApp Chat with HP support and I could tell they were clutching at straws when they asked me first to try my Apple-ID and Password, then try My router SSID and password.
Any ideas gratefully received.

Keithmt, you said you checked the time/GMT settings -- is the printer actually set to GMT time? And if so, is that reflecting daylight savings changes? I don't think GMT people have switched to daylight savings yet, so maybe you're off by an hour? Just a shot in the dark...

When I checked the printer date/time it says the default is GMT but I still had to manually set the time.
UPDATE : IT'S WORKING!
Hadn't realised that on the Mac File Sharing options, I had to tick my username under what looks like Windows File Sharing. Ticked my account and it's working!

They certainly haven’t Howard, seems like Mac integration was an afterthought. If I’d realised that I might have gone for a different brand but now that all is working, I’m really happy with the device. One last mystery remains though, what the heck have time settings got to do with printer functionality? Bizarre.

I've checked the time/GMT settings and the printer is displaying the appropriate time. I've moved my Scans Folder to the path of my User Account Private label skincare cosmetics manufacturer however nothing appears to work. I had a protracted (very long) WhatsApp Chat with hp drivers.

Like so many others I'm having trouble with scan to network folder. This is what I have and what I've done:
HP LaserJet 400 color MFP M475dw, HP pc on windows 10, i7-8700 16GB Ram, 64-bit OS
1. set up a shared folder on pc called "Scan" with full access
2. SMB 1.0 started
3. Access Web app on printer via wireless address
4. Set path name //ip address/Scan
5. Set credentials and other configuration
Test fails repeatedly
I can scan using HP Smart and then save it locally on my pc which is fine for now but I'd like to be able to go to printer, load docs, then scan to pc shared folder.

Portishead0, There is something else you might try. I had this fix a stubborn printer problem.
Reset the printing system. The procedure is:
- Open System Preferences, Select Printers and Scanners.
- Unlock the System Preferences if needed.
- Right-click in the left pane labeled Printers. Select Reset Printing System.
This will delete all printers.
-Try to connect to the shared scan folder from another computer. You should be allowed to connect after entering the correct login credentials. This will verify that the shared folder is setup correctly:
- On another MacOS open Finder. In the Sidebar, in the Locations section, select the target system, if visible. If the target system is not visible, sharing may not be setup correctly. You should be able to navigate to the shared scans folder.
- On Windows use the Network path: \\computer\Shared folder
Do a full re-install of the printer software. Make sure you can scan by initiating the scan from the System Preferences:
- In the Printers and Scanners preferences, select the printer in the white left pane, and select the Scan tab on the top right.
- Then Open Scanner and start a scan.
- Go through the steps to setup Scan to Network Folder again.

To sweep to organize envelopes utilizing my iMac (Mojave), I have recently bought a 9010. Notwithstanding adhering to the guidelines in the PDF precisely, I can't get my username and secret key to work. As indicated by the printer, the time and GMT settings are right. It appears to be that nothing works in the wake of moving my Scans Folder to the course of my User Account. At the point when HP support asked me to initially attempt my Apple-ID and secret phrase, then, at that point my switch SSID and secret key in a long (extremely long) WhatsApp conversation, it was clear they were trying in vain.
Thanks .
