My HP ENVY 4500 series printer displays the 0X83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP error during boot up and while sitting idle on wifi.  I am unable to upgrade the firmware because there is no upgrade available per the HP website.

 I have tried to hold the power button but this seems to only cause an endless loop.  I have held the power button and opened the lid but this only works occasionally.

Is this printer no longer supported?  Are there any permanent fixes for this error?

The 0X83C0000A NOS_LOADER_APP error on HP ENVY 4500 series printers typically points to a firmware or software issue. This kind of error may occur during bootup or when the printer is sitting idle, and it can be quite frustrating, especially if no firmware update is available from HP.

 

Here are some possible steps you can try to resolve this issue:


Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source while it's turned on.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes reset the printer's internal hardware and software, which might resolve the error.

Factory Reset (if accessible)

  • If you are able to access the printer menu (this might be difficult with the error showing), try performing a factory reset.
  • Go to Setup > Tools > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • If your screen is frozen, this step might not work, but it could be worth a try if you can get the printer into the menu.

Check for Updates using HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant

  • Even if there are no updates on the website, try using HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant software on your computer to check for any available firmware or software updates.
  • Sometimes, updates are pushed through these utilities instead of being listed directly on the website.

Try Disconnecting WiFi

  • If the error occurs more frequently when the printer is idle on WiFi, disconnecting the printer from the WiFi network might help.
  • You can attempt to use the printer in USB mode to see if the error persists when it's not connected to a network.
