This refers to the scanner bed. Open the lid and start the printer to see if there is any movement of the scanner bar. It could be a failed or binding scanner, typically on the side of the scanner bar furthest from the front there is a flat white cable and I have seen them deform and restrict movement of the scanner, triggering an error. Unfortunately if the cable is bent there is really no simple solution.
