Hi @astro4000 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are encountering a printing issue with your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer where it's producing a thick black bar near the top of the page. This could be due to several reasons, and troubleshooting steps can help isolate the problem:

  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings are configured correctly. Ensure that the paper size selected in the printer settings matches the paper loaded in the printer.
  • Clean Printer: Sometimes, dust may accumulate on the printer's rollers or other parts, causing printing issues. Clean the printer according to the HP instructions.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model. Software and Drivers for HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer
  • Check Toner Cartridge: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed and seated correctly. Sometimes, a loose or improperly installed cartridge can cause printing problems.
  • Inspect Printer Drum: If the printer drum is dirty or damaged, it can cause printing issues such as streaks or lines on the printed pages. Carefully inspect the printer drum and clean it if necessary.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Print a Test Page: Print a test page to check if the issue persists. If the problem only occurs with certain documents or applications, it could be a software-related issue.

All was clean, the trick was to reset the printer, delete the printer and drivers, Re-install and all seems to be good.

Thank you.
