Dude... I have 2 of the same printers and they have been great for as long as I've had them, which is a long time now. BOTH of them within days throw the same print head missing error. I have always used HP cartridges and trouble shot everything the Internet says to, even HPs own procedures. I'm about to pay for postage and just mail them back to HP because they're basically bricked... If HP does not help fix this issue they've lost and soured a good customer.

Hi @G-crusher-,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds incredibly frustrating to encounter the same print head error on both of your HP Officejet 8610 printers. Before you consider mailing them back, which can be quite an expense and hassle, here are a few steps and checks you might not have tried yet that could potentially resolve the issue:

Reset the Printer: If you haven't already done so, perform a full reset on the printer. Unplug it from the power source, wait about a minute, and then plug it back in. This can sometimes clear errors that are stuck due to software issues.

Clean the Print Head Manually:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and the print head.
  • Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water (not tap water) to gently wipe the electronic contacts on the print head and inside the printer where the print head sits.
  • Allow everything to dry completely before reassembling.

Reinstall the Print Head:

  • Carefully reinstall the print head and the cartridges. Ensure that they are installed correctly and securely. Sometimes the error can be due to poor contact between the printer and the print head.

Update Printer Firmware:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
