macOS 10.15 Catalina

My 3830 stopped printing in color with my Mac. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and pulled the plug etc. Is this defective. Should I return it to Best Buy? It was working fine for months.

I understand you are not able to print in color from the Mac. To assist you better,

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone color copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

  1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File > Print to open the Print window.

  2. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click Show Details if it displays to access the print settings available for your printer.

  3. Make sure the black and white box is not checked.

Hi 

I tried to make a color copy using the printer. Did not work.

I installed the HP Smart for desktop. I trouble shooted and printed out the quality diagnostic. 

I had the printer clean the cartridges as suggested.

If the printer cannot make copies in color and print test pages in color, it means this is a hardware issue.

Have you tried using an alternate color ink cartridge?

Kindly replace the color ink cartridge to conclude if the issue is with the ink cartridge or the printer.

You may visit Hp Store to order a compatible ink cartridge or buy it from a local store.
