I just installed at 61XL black cartridge for the first time.  However, the printer stalls and I get cartridge error messages.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  My printer has stopped completely printing pages.

@eaholmberg, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Make sure the plastic tape if any is removed from the new ink cartridge before placing it in the printer.

Try making a standalone copy in color and black to check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

If there is some ink left in the old black ink cartridge, check if that works.
