HP 7858 printer only prints correctly when it feels like it.  Tried everything under all suggestions and it still only prints part of pages or just skips most of the document content. Really the worst HP printer we have ever owned.

Hi @MarcoIsland2023,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with printer issues can be frustrating, especially when you've tried many troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the problem with your HP 7858 printer.

  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website.
  • Check Printer Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you're using a wireless connection, try connecting via USB cable temporarily to see if the issue persists.
  • Restart Printer Spooler: Sometimes the print spooler service on your computer can get stuck. Restarting it can resolve printing issues. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, then find the "Print Spooler" service and restart it.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can often resolve strange behavior. You can usually find reset options in the printer's menu or settings.
  • Check Print Queue: Make sure there are no pending print jobs in the print queue. Sometimes a stuck print job can cause subsequent print jobs to fail.
  • Test with Different Software: Try printing from a different program or application to see if the issue is specific to one software or document.
  • Paper and Ink/Toner: Ensure that there is enough paper in the printer and that the ink or toner cartridges are not empty or low. Sometimes printing issues can occur if these supplies are depleted.
  • Run Printer Diagnostic Tools: HP often provides diagnostic tools for their printers. These tools can help identify and resolve common printing issues. Check the HP support website for any specific tools for your printer model.

Hopefully, one of these steps helps resolve the issue with your HP 7858 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
