HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer

Printer failed during a print job. It initially indicated a paper jam issue, I opened it up to look for paper jam but there was no sign of paper jam. It is giving me a failure code 71.02.4A.

Hi @Bill_S5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The failure code 71.02.4A on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer typically indicates a carriage-related issue, often due to an obstruction, sensor problem, or a hardware failure.
Please try these steps,

Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to reset.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Obstructions in the Carriage Path

  • Open the printer cover and look for any jammed paper, debris, or ink cartridge obstructions in the carriage path.
  • If the carriage is stuck, gently move it to the center and check for any resistance.
  • Use a flashlight to inspect the area around the rollers and behind the cartridges.

Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove each cartridge and inspect for leaks or damage.
  • Reinsert them properly and close the door.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the power cable while the printer is still on.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds (if applicable).
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer back on.

Update Firmware (If Accessible)

  • If the printer can still communicate with a computer, check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
