Hi @HigginsLake,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, if the printer won't print and displays a message to contact HP, it could be a more serious issue that needs attention. However, you can try the following steps

Steps to Troubleshoot HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Jams and Obstructions:

  • Open all printer covers and remove any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Ensure that the paper tray is properly loaded and aligned.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Check if any cartridges are empty or need replacement.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Visit the HP Support website and check for any firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available updates.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing and scanning issues.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:

  • On the printer control panel, go to the Setup menu.
  • Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Choose Restore or Reset, then select Restore Factory Defaults.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printer driver from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest driver from the HP Support website.

Check Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected to a network, ensure that the connection is stable.
  • Try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi or using an Ethernet cable for a wired connection.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If there is any specific error code displayed on the printer, note it down. Error codes can provide more specific information about the issue.
