Hi @conniejarrett,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Officejet Pro 8610 is showing a "Cartridge Damaged" error, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check Cartridges:
- Make sure the cartridges are properly installed and seated. Remove them and reinsert them carefully.
- Inspect the cartridges for any visible damage or leaks.
Clean Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab dipped in distilled water. Be sure to dry everything thoroughly before reinserting the cartridges.
Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. Check the HP website for any available updates for your printer.
Reset Printer:
- Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can often resolve software-related issues.
- To do this, go to the printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.
Replace Cartridges:
- If the above steps don't work, you might need to replace the affected cartridge(s). Sometimes even new cartridges can be faulty, so consider trying another set of cartridges if possible.
Check for Printer Damage:
- Ensure there are no obstructions or damage to the printhead or cartridge area that could be causing the error.
Refer to this document: HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
