Hi @miamigal

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xc19a0040 on your HP OfficeJet 8610 typically indicates a problem with the print head or the ink system. If the print head isn’t moving left when you open the door, it may be stuck or there could be an issue with the printer's mechanics. Here are some steps to troubleshoot further:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve minor issues.

2. Check for Obstructions

  • Look inside the printer for any obstructions that may be blocking the print head’s movement. Remove any paper scraps or foreign objects that could be in the way.

3. Inspect the Print Head

  • If you can reach the print head, gently try to move it left and right. It should move freely. If it feels stuck, there may be a mechanical issue.

4. Remove and Reinstall the Print Head

  • Carefully remove the print head according to your printer’s instructions. Check for any visible damage or debris. Reinstall it securely and see if it resolves the issue.

5. Reset the Print Head

  • If the print head is removable, you may try resetting it. After removing, turn on the printer without the print head, and then turn it off again before reinstalling the print head.

6. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and check for any damage or leaks. Reinstall them firmly.

7. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Some HP printers allow for a more extensive reset. Check the user manual or HP’s website for instructions on performing a factory reset.

8. Update Firmware

  • If the printer is functioning again, check for any firmware updates from the HP support website that may resolve persistent issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
