My HP 8715 will not copy documents on the glass.

The display returns an error message:  "Paper Size Mismatch.  The paper size detected (letter 8.5x11 in) by the printer does not match the paper size selected (5x7) for the print job."

This makes zero sense. I have not selected any paper size for copying. Previously (weeks ago) I printed some 5x7 photos. But today I printed 8-1/2 x 11 paper with that size selected on the Mac, so the last paper size sent to the printer from the computer was letter.

I turned the printer off and restarted. But that did nothing. The printer spits out a blank document.

Printing works. Copying doesn't.

If I can't fix this in a day or two, I'm getting a new printer on Black Friday. Because who needs this?

Solved.

Removing and reinserting the paper tray unfroze the paper size selection option on the printer, letting me return to 8-1/2 x 11. So that's where the device was getting the "paper size selected for the print job."
