Office Jet Pro 9010
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Setup OJ 9010 Last month.  WiFi setup.  HP WiFi Report has IP address for Tcp/IP connection.  Correct subnet and Gateway.

Win 8 PC has driver loaded from 123.hp.com when installed.  Default Printer is checked.  Port is same port number generated by HP WiFi Report.  Printer says it is on-line.  Send print job (or even test print) and the job spools, times out, and printer is listed as off-line.  Delete print job, try again, same result.

Win 8 PC and WiFi Ipv4 both have first 3 digits the same, so I know they are on the same segment.

PC ends in .42.  9010 ends in .180.

HP Doctor "finds" the printer, and offers the option to change IP, but when I select that option the .180 is already there.

Printer has been restarted over and over.  Win 8 PC has been restarted over and over.  Router has been started a few times trying to solve this (XFinity, if that makes a difference)  Equipment is the same as it was last month, and setup worked fine.

Router shows both connected at the respective addresses.  Win 8 PC is also on WiFi, not ethernet.

In port tab of printer settings, added "new" tcp/ip port with correct .180, but still does not connect.

In web browser the .180 does not connect to printer

HP Doctor finds the printer right away, and displays .180, as does the wifi settings report.

Reset printer back to factory, and tried entire process again, driver appears, but the connection to PC disappears when test print sent.

Printer about a month old, should I just return and start over?  Anything else I should try?  Very puzzled, and disappointed.

@DaVinman, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below to isolate and resolve the issue. First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present-

• Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.

• Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

• Restart your computer.

• Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.

• Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.

• Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".

• Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.

• Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.

• Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

• Again, go running window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

• Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.

• Now restart your computer again.

• Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.

• Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.

• Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.

• Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well

• Windows image acquisition stop and restart the service

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Okay.

I got as far as the printerui.exe /s

I deleted all the drivers, except the 9010 is still listed, and when I try to delete it, it says it cannot because it is in use.

So, I went back to control panel / printers, and the 9010 is NOT listed there at all.  I don't know how this could be in use, so I don't know how to force this to delete.

Thanks for waiting!

Restart the print spooler and try uninstalling the drivers

Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.

Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.

Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.

Go to services again - Start the print spooler.

Now, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Okay.  This worked to clear out the driver in the printerui.exe /s

However I clicked the link to re-install, I entered my printer (OfficeJet 9010), to install the recommend Easy Start:

Easy Start runs.

Asked me to turn on my printer (not found)

Asked me to connect printer to WiFi (connected, and printed WiFi information with IP address of 10.0.0.180)

I supplied it from the sheet from the printer, and Easy Start says printer not found.

Still not working.

What now?

Add the printer using TCP/IP address-

1.  Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.  Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.   elect “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.  Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.   Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.   select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.  Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.  Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I followed those directions.

The printer still lists TCP/IP address as 10.0.0.180

I entered that as the address from your instructions.  I got the message that the printer could not be found.

It suggested a "generic" network card, so I used that default selection, and let it finish the process.

The printer did not install.

Create a new user account and try adding the printer-

1. Tap the Windows icon.

2. Select Settings.

3. Tap Accounts.

4. Select Family & other users.

5. Tap "Add someone else to this PC."

6. Select "I don't have this person's sign-in information."

7. Select "Add a user without a Microsoft account."

8. Enter a username, type the account's password twice, enter a clue and select Next.

9. Tap the Windows icon.

10. Select the User icon at the upper left corner of the Start menu.

11. Select the new user. You'll then sign into your account with your password from step 8.

Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try printing.

Okay, created a new admin user as the instructions above.

Followed the link for the driver installation.

Got to the connect to the printer stage... and right back where we started.  I did make sure printer blue light is on, and I did print the WiFi network page, with the same IP address.  Even entering the IP directly did not find the printer.

Trying to add it from Add printer in control panel, and use tcp/ip and entering the address also did not work for the new user created.
