Hi @gsp_sbmom

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If the ink cartridge and carriage are stuck on the right side and the cartridges are out of place, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Ensure Carriage is Free

  1. Turn on the Printer: If the printer is off, press the power button to turn it on.
  2. Open Ink Cartridge Access Door: Gently grasp the handles and raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place. The carriage moves slightly.
  3. Wait for the Carriage: Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
  4. Disconnect Power Cord: With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer to avoid risk of shocks while reaching inside.

Step 2: Manually Move the Carriage

  1. Move Carriage Manually: Reach inside the printer, and manually move the carriage slightly to the left to free it if it is stuck on the right side.
  2. Check for Obstructions: Use a flashlight to check for any paper or objects that might be restricting the carriage. Remove anything found.
  3. Remove Loose Paper: If there is any loose paper, gently pull it out with both hands to avoid tearing.

Step 3: Secure Ink Cartridges

  1. Reinsert Cartridges: Make sure the cartridges are properly seated in their designated slots.
  2. Close Ink Cartridge Access Door: After ensuring everything is secure, close the ink cartridge access door.

Step 4: Test Print

  1. Reconnect Power Cord: Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it back on.
  2. Perform a Test Print: Check whether the printer now functions properly.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance from HP phone support to consider servicing the printer.
