Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased th HP9135e.  Each new day I need to restart my computer to get the printer to print.  It prints items from the HP App, but not anything else.  I can not keep restarting my computer everyday just so the printer will print.  Suggestions??

Hi @Kellym16,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 9135e printer won’t print unless you restart your computer, even though it prints correctly from the HP Smart app. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Printer Status in Devices and Printers

Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.

Make sure your HP 9135e is set as Default Printer and not showing Offline or Paused status.

Right-click the printer → See what’s printing → cancel any stuck print jobs.

Restart Print Spooler Service

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.

This clears any temporary spooler cache that may block communication between the system and printer.

Reinstall HP Smart and HP Drivers

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps and uninstall HP Smart and any HP printer drivers.

Then reinstall the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store, open it, and add your printer again.

This ensures you’re using the latest version compatible with Windows updates.

Check Connection Type

If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure both your PC and printer are connected to the same 2.4GHz network.

Avoid guest or 5GHz-only bands, as they can interrupt connection persistence after sleep or restarts.

If available, test with a USB connection to confirm the printer hardware is working normally.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s website.

Let it scan and automatically fix any driver, spooler, or connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.
