Yesterday I had a customer insert their USB memory stick into the USB port on the printer.  The printer failed to read the Directory on the Memory stick.  The read the directory message started and just remained.  The grumpy customer removed the USB and left.  The on screen message was that it was trying to read the directory, it remained.  I guess the USB read process  crashed the printer. This morning, the message was still on screen without the USB, it was still trying to read the USB directory.  I tried to reset the printer.  I could not get it to turn off with the on/off switch.  I had to unplug the printer to re boot the printer.  It now is in a normal state.

I do not know anything about the USB the customer brought in.  The customer would not let me see it or tell me how they wrote the data on it.  This type of problem has happened before.  I think I bricked a USB stick using the printer in the past.  I would like advice on what is going on, and how to prevent the problem.
