When I first got my printer it was printing A5 fine but now it won’t print them centrally. It prints to the side and off the page. I have put the paper size as A5 on the printer and when I go to print on my iPad it says the page is A5 but it still won’t work. It doesn’t come up with the option on the HP smart app to print A5 even though it is able to

If the printer was printing A5 from iOS before, it would normally be able to do so again.

 

Assuming everything else is set,

One possible place to check...

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to set / adjust the tray and paper settings.

 

Embedded Web Server (EWS)

 

 Note:  This option is not applicable to printers connected via a USB printer cable (no network connection).

 

 

If the printer is on the network,

If the EWS feature is supported on your printer,

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to view / configure your printer.

NOTE:  Laser printer options in EWS are very different from those offered in Inkjet Printers.

 

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management

If applicable, check the Advanced section (at the bottom of the Tray and Paper Management menu)

Click Apply to save changes

 

NOTE:  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down menu, Select Custom (likely the last selection in the list)

 

NOTE 2:  EWS is also available in HP Smart Windows and HP Smart Mobile > Settings > Advanced

Clean the printer / Category Troubleshooting > Topic Print > Subtopic Print Quality (name may vary)

 

There has been a recent version update for HP Smart.

Uninstall the app > shut off your device > switch on device > get a new copy of the HP Smart App.

Updating the app will make no difference because the printer prints the image to the side and of center on the A5 paper

Consider completing those checks / tests.
